An event with the theme of ‘Har Med Par Ped’ was organized by ICAR-DWR under the banner `Nation-wide campaign on tree plantation and awareness’ on the eve of ICAR’s 93rd Foundation Day, the 16th July, 2021, as part of the Celebration of India@75-Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. The event was attended by all the scientists, officers, technical and other staff including contractual farm workers. In the beginning, Dr. JS Mishra, Director highlighted the initiatives taken by ICAR towards Doubling Farmers’ Income by the year 2022. He urged that the scientists and other technical staff, while going to the adopted and other villages under various ongoing programmes like Meragaon mera gaurav, Farmer first, SCSP, OFR, Field Demonstration, etc., should use every opportunity to make the farmers aware about the theme ‘Har Med Par Ped’ and encourage them towards planting of suitable food trees along the farm bunds; so that the farmers can get some extra income as well as benefit the environment without affecting the production of field crops.
On this occasion, 250 saplings of Karaunda, drumstick and jackfruit trees were planted by the Director and all other staff along the Directorate’s research farm boundary. It was also decided that such activities will be routinely conducted to plant various other food tree species. The event was coordinated by Dr. KK Barman, Principal Scientist and Mr. RS Upadhyay, Farm Manager.
