The ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur organized a Webinar for the farmers of Damoh district of MP on 11th May 2021 under the programme ‘Bharat ki Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. A total of 45 participants including farmers, researcher, students etc participated in the Webinar. Dr. J.S. Mishra, Director, ICAR-DWR in his inaugural speech stated about importance of crop management and weed management to achieve higher crop productivity, preparedness about procurement of agricultural inputs, and their judicious uses. He also urged the farmers to follow all the safety measures suggested by the Government during COVID-19 pandemic using face mask, frequent hand sanitization, maintain physical distancing etc. In order to get the maximum benefit of the demonstrations exhibited at their field. Dr Mishra also suggested to interact as much as possible to the scientists of the Directorate, so that crop management in general and weed management techniques in particular will reach to them timely and effectively. Dr. V.K. Choudhary, detailed about project and activities being carried out at the farmers fields (demonstration, training, field days, Gosthis etc.). Dr. Choudhary also delivered a lecture on improved rice cultivation including selection of seed/variety, seed treatment, nursery, fertilizer, weed, nutrient, pest management etc. They were also explained about role of bio-fertilizer (BGA) to boost paddy production. Er. Chethan, C.R. discussed about importance of nozzle selection and safety issue of herbicide spraying techniques to be followed. At the end of the webinar there was a interaction session. The webinar was facilitated by Mr. Dharmendra Baghele and Mr. Jainpal Rathore (YP-II) from ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur and Mr. Durgesh Rathore from Manthan. At the end, webinar was ended with vote of thanks.
