ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur, celebrating Swatchhata Pakhwara from 16-31 May, 2017, in this occasion on 27th May, 2017, honourable MOS Health Family welfare and parliamentary affairs MP Govt Sri Sharad Jain Ji, has been invited as Chief guest and Sri Sushil Tiwari MLA Panagar, constituency as special guest. The programme commenced by welcoming the Chief Guest by Dr. P.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur with bouquet of flowers. Dr. Singh explained about the ongoing activities of the Directorate, he specially emphasized about the activities being carried out in regards to Swatchhata. He informed the house that , employees of the Directorate are regularly giving two hours in each week for cleanliness activities, in and out the Directorate premises, nearby ponds, and lawn /garden of the city, apart from the activities under the ‘Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav‘ and FARMERS FIRST programme. Additionally swatchhatta activities are also conducted in adopted villages from districts of Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Katni, Seoni and Mandla. The Scientist of the Directorate used to give the information on parthenium management, weed management, conservation agriculture, and awareness on swatchhata at farmers gosthies, farmer-scientist interactions, field days etc. especial attention was being given for litter free village, use of sauchalaya and polythene free village apart from scientific knowledge sharing
Sri Sharad Jain, Chief Guest of the Programme appreciated the activities being undertaken at the Directorate on research and extension activities, and also the efforts are being done towards Swattchhata Abhiyan. MOS appraised the contribution of scientists, policy makers and farmers of the state to achieving the consecutive fourth time prestigious “Krishi Karman Award”. He emphasized about upcoming activity of Govt. of MP for plantation of about 6 crors tree in the basin area of Narmada River which is in the range of 5-6 km’s from river bank. He also expressed his concern on the rivers of Jabalpur such as Pariyat, Gour and others for their pollution level and decreasing their water quality. He motivated and requested the gathering to plant at least 25 saplings by each individual whoever were presented in the occasion. He also addressed the gathering on health issues and possible remedies from cleanliness.
Sri Sushil Tiwari, MLA Panagar shared his experiences and the activities are being carrying out by him in his constituency. He also requested the authority of the Directorate to showcase the developed technologies at local level such as control of water hyacinth at Adhartal Pond to show the existence and effectiveness of the directorate. In the Occasion Scientist of the Directorate showed their concern on various issues related to pollutions and cleanliness. At The end, Dr. Sushil Kumar, Principal Scientist proposed the vote of thanks.
