ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur observed the Sexual Harassment of Woman at Workplace Prevention Week (4th to 9th December 2024) to sensitize its officials and outsourced manpower emphasize about What can we do to prevent sexual harassment. The Sexual Harassment of Women at workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 was notified on 3rd December, 2013 to provide a safe and secure environment to women at workplace.
The commemoration of the week started with the delivery of a speech by Dr Shobha Sondhia, Pr. Scientist & Chairperson, Women Grievance Cell of the Directorate on gender equality at the workplace and pointed out it to be a critical issue that affects the well-being, productivity, and career trajectories of staff in general and that of women in particular. She discussed in detail about the types of Women harassment at work places and government guidelines to prevent such harassment.
Dr J.S. Mishra. Director, emphasised on the gender equality that refers to the equal rights, opportunities, and treatment of all individuals, irrespective of their gender. Achieving gender equality in the workplace is not only a matter of social justice but also essential for maximizing organizational performance and innovation, he added. He further suggested organizing such programmes at the Directorate at regular intervals to make women staff about the different rules and guidelines to overcome harassment cases at workplace. All the staff including SRFs, and temporary workers participated in the programme.
