On December 20, 2024, an exposure visit to the Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA), Jabalpur was organized for the farmers under Schedule Caste Sub Plan with the objective of enhancing knowledge and skill of the farmers for sustainable agricultural development. The farmers were accompanied by Dr. Yogita Gharde, Nodal Officer, SCSP; Dr. Deepak Pawar; Dr. Jeentedra Kumar Soni and Dr. Sahadeo I.K.
The event commenced with an introduction to BISA's cutting-edge research in climate-resilient agriculture, focusing on improving productivity and profitability in farming systems. The participants were given a comprehensive tour of the experimental fields, where they observed demonstrations of advanced technologies in different crops such as precision farming, conservation agriculture, and integrated nutrient management. Interactive sessions with BISA scientists provided the farmers with valuable insights into the adoption of region-specific improved crop varieties and innovative resource management practices. The event also highlighted the potential of modern agricultural tools in reducing input costs and mitigating climate risks.
Farmers expressed enthusiasm for implementing the knowledge gained during the visit in their respective farming practices. One participant remarked, "This visit has opened our eyes to the transformative potential of modern agricultural techniques. We are motivated to adopt these innovations to improve our productivity and income." The exposure visit concluded with a group discussion where farmers shared their learnings and perspectives. This initiative reaffirmed the commitment to empowering farmers with the knowledge required for sustainable agricultural development, contributing to national food security and rural prosperity. This was attended by a group of 40 farmers from Ghosalpur and Patan localities adopted under SCSP scheme.
