ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur organized Mahila Kisan Diwas on 15 October 2018 at Directorate. This day was organized to interact with the farm women and provide them information on agriculture related issues including weed management
In his remarks, Dr. P.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-DWR welcomed the farm women in the programme and mentioned about the contribution of women farmers in Indian agriculture starting from cleaning and sowing of seeds to harvesting/threshing. He talked on precautions to be taken during spray of herbicides and other issues related to farming. Farm women also interacted with the scientists of the Directorate on their problems related to agriculture in general and weed management in particular. The programme was attended by around 50 farm women from nearby villages namely Badi Khari, Khari and Maharajpur.
Five farm women were also honoured in this occasion on account of their significant contribution in different farm activities. During the programme,scientists of the Directorate including Dr. R.P. Dubey, Dr. ShobhaSondhia, Dr. Yogita Gharde, Dr. Subhash Chander, Mr. Deepak V. Pawar were also present. This programme was coordinated by Mr. R.S. Upadhyay, CTO.
