ICAR – DWR celebrated Fifth International Day of Yoga (IDY)   (21 June, 2019)


ICAR – Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur celebrated Fifth International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21st June, 2019. IDY was organized as “Festival of Yoga and Wellbeing” in two sessions with full happiness & enthusiasm. Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) was demonstrated to all the employees including JRF, SRF, YPs, Contractual workers etc in the guidance of noted Yoga Teacher Shri Yashwant Chitale from 6.30 to 8.00 AM as first even. Distinguished Yogacharya Shri Chitale practiced various postures, pranayama and corrective actions of yoga, to the officers & employees of the Directorate. He said that Yoga has been a part of our life since ancient times & everyone should practice yoga atleast half an hour to one hour every day to stay healthy, physically & mentally fit. Sh. Chitale demonstrated different disease/problem based yoga on request of various officials of the Directorate. He further advised that accessories used during the practice of Yoga should be environment friendly.

On this occasion Dr. P.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur appealed to all to adopt yoga in their daily routine by highlighting the utility and importance of yoga in day to day life in the present time. Dr. Singh appraised the concept note for taking steps to aware the public about the need to opt for eco-friendly Yoga accessories as per guidelines of the Ministry of AYUSH. Use of eco-friendly yoga accessories will be more safe for us and Environment also.

A lecture on “Importance of Yoga for Healthy Life” was given by Dr. Jyoti Mishra, Yoga & Naturopathy Expert. Dr. Jyoti Mishra added that there is a need of regular yoga practice/ pranayama to be healthy & live a restrained lifestyle. She further informed that various types of yoga exercise increase the immunity of the body and it is helpful in keeping free from the potential diseases due to uneven daily routine. More than 80 officers and employees of the Directorate were participated in the International Day of Yoga. The Chief Guests were welcomed by the Director Dr. P. K. Singh and the Nodal Officer whole yoga programme was conducted by Sr. Basant Mishra, Nodal Officer, International Day of Yoga.
