An MPBT Council, Bhopal sponsored 15 days training programme entitled “Bioherbicides - with special emphasis to Microbial Biotechnology” for post graduate students was held during 27 January, 2015 to 10 February, 2015 at the Directorate. Dr. A.R. Sharma, Director, DWR inaugurated the programme and urged the need of integrated weed management for sustainable crop production. He emphasized on need of interdisciplinary research and hence urged the students to be on a lookout of advancing technologies and acquaint themselves to its use in agricultural sciences.

Twelve students from St. Aloysius College, Jabalpur, AKS University, Satna and APS participated were acquainted to theoretical and practical aspects of microbial culture and their maintenance, basic tools in biotechnology and their application in context of bioherbicides and agriculture. Dr. C. Kannan, Course Director and Dr. Meenal Rathore, Course coordinator of the training programme held regular interactive sessions throughout the training programme. Dr. Fr. G. Vazhan Arasu, Principal of St. Aloysius College, Jbalpur graced the valedictory function.
