National Science Day was celebrated on 28.2.2015. Objective type science knowledge awareness competitions were arranged for scientific, technical, administrative, and supporting staff to mark the occasion. Dr. Tapas Chakma, Deputy Director, NIR in Tribal Health, ICMR, Jabalpur has kindly presided over the function, and also delivered a lecture on ‘Fluorosis: medical and scientific perspectives'. Dr. Meenal Rathore, Senior Scientist conducted the proceedings highlighting the importance of the day in national context. Dr. D.K. Pandey, Principal Scientist addressed the house keeping in view the theme “Science for Nation Building” and its relevance in Indian context. He stressed that food and nutrition security for rising population, depleting quality and quantity of resources and challenges compounded by the climate change have to be dealt with the help of science for better life.
Dr. PP Choudhuri, Dr. Meenal Rathore, Abhishek Dubey, Kabita Rohitas, Shiv Prasad, Mohanlal Dubey, Priyanka Tiwari and Shraddha Rawat were given prizes for winning the science awareness competition in their respective categories. The programme ended with the vote of thanks given by Dr. C. Kannan.
