The Institute Research Committee (IRC) meeting was held during June 29-30, 2020, under the Chairmanship of the Director, ICAR-DWR to review the progress of the ongoing research projects and action taken on the recommendation of IRC-2019 and RAC-2020.The meeting was attended by all the scientist of the Directorate. The meeting was started with the welcome of the Director and the members of IRC by the Dr Shobha Sondhia, Member Secretary of IRC. After the welcome address, Dr Shobha Sondhia presented the action taken report of general recommendation of IRC-2019 which was approved by the Chairman. This was followed by the opening remarks of Dr P K Singh, Director and Chairman of IRC.

In the opening remarks, Dr P K Singh highlighted the recommendations of RAC-2020 and also recommendations of the review meeting held through video conferencing under the Chairmanship of DDG, NRM on May 27, 2020. He urged all the scientists to present the new projects keeping in view of these recommendations and also advocated multi-disciplinary approach in their focused research project. He also informed the house that research projects of the Directorate will be further strengthen with the joining of five scientists, Dr K K Barman, Pr. Scientist, Soil Science, Dr P K Mukherjee, Pr. Scientist, Agronomy, Dr Dasari Sreekanth, Scientist, Plant Physiology, Er. Vaibhav Chaudhary, Scientist, Farm Machinery & Power and Dr Himanshu Mahawar, Scientist, Agricultural Microbiology.

After the opening remark by the Chairman, the results and significant achievements of the different projects executed during 2019-2020 were presented by individual scientist.The progress of ongoing and completed research projects was reviewed by IRC critically with in-depth discussion by the members and Chairman. New research proposals were also presented and thoroughly discussed and it was suggested to incorporate all the suggestions and comments before submission of the projects. In the end, the Chairman IRC appreciated all the scientists for putting hard work not only for execution of research activities but also taking up additional responsibilities for smooth functioning of Directorate in the situation of limited human resources. He also stressed the need of more extension activities in order to reach out to the farmers with Weed Management Technologies developed at Directorate. The meeting ended with the vote of thanks by Member Secretary.
