On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, ICAR- Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur organized series of events during 26 September to 02 October, 2020. In this week long events following activities were conducted:
On 26 Sept., 2020 cleanliness drive was started where all the employees of the directorate has participated actively to clean the premises and in and around area. On 28 Sept, 2020 plantation was carried out in the premises where all the employees of the Directorate has participated actively. On 29 Sept., 2020 a lecture on women empowerment and spiritual thought by Rajyogini Varsha Behen from Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwavidhyalay, Jabalpur. On 30 September, 2020 a lecture on ‘Mahatma Gandhi ji ka Krishi Darshan’ was delivered by Dr. Sushil Kumar, Pr. Scientist (Entomology). On 01 Oct, 2020 debate on Gandhi’s view on Agriculture philosophies and rural development was organized at this Directorate. On 02 October, 2020 Shri Rajendra Chandrakant Rai, a famous writer was invited as Chief guest to address on Mahatama Gandhis’s philosphey. Mr Rai narrated many events of Bapu’s action and work, which impacted the life of farmers and common man and subsequently opened the way of independence.
During the different events Dr. P.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur addressed the gathering and shared about Gandhi’s life and his journeys to achieve freedom through Ahinsa and Satyagrah. He also detailed about Zehar Mukt Kheti and Kutir Udhyog. In the events organized during the week, all the officers and staff participated following the protocol of COVID-19. This programme was coordinated by the committee consisting Dr. Sushil Kumar, Principal Scientists, SDr. V.K. Choudhary, Sr. Scientist and Dr. Basant Mishra, Tehnical Officer.
