The Directorate has undertaken 5 villages in Seoni district of MP under Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) programme. On-farm research on weed management in wheat crop under conservation agriculture is being carried out in these 5 villages. To create more awareness on weed management in different crops, a Kisan Sangoshthi was organized at village Nagan Deori, Seoni on 21-03-2016 by the Directorate. About 120 farmers and 3 public representative from the identified and nearby villages along with Sarpanch of Nagan Deori and officials from State Department of Agriculture attended the programme and interacted with the scientists of the Directorate. Locality leader, Dr. Sushil Kumar, PS (Entomology) welcomed the participants and presented an overview on MGMG programme being conducted at Seoni district.
Dr. PK Singh, PS (Ag. Ext.) informed the farmers about the MGMG programme and conservation agriculture practices. Dr. AR. Sharma, Director, ICAR-DWR urged the farmers to adopt the conservation agriculture practices for sustaining the soil and crop productivity. Mr. Athya, SADO, Block-Dhooma provided detailed information on various governmental schemes and hoped that the farmers would take benefit from such schemes.
Farmers who adopted the improved weed management practices and conservation agriculture technology, shared their view and experiences with the audience and urged the other farmers to adopt these technologies to increase crop productivity. Queries of farmers on various aspects of weed management were answered by the experts of Directorate. The farmers were taken to the OFR site to see for themselves the good crop of wheat under conservation agriculture as compared to farmers practice. The programme was conducted by Dr. Yogita Gharde (Scientist) and other staff of the Directorate.
