XXIII Annual review meeting of All India Coordinated Research Project on Weed Management was organised at Jain Irrigation Systems, Jalgaon (Maharashtra) 28-30 April 2016. Inaugural session was graced by the presence of Chief Guest, Dr. Subramanian, Sr. Vice President (Agricultural Biotechnology), Jain Irrigation Systems, Guests of Honour, Mr. V.B. Patil, Jain Irrigation Systems and chaired by Dr. A.R. Sharma, Director, ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur. Scientists of 22 regular AICRP-WM coordinating centres, 2 ICAR institutes and one volunteer centres attended the meeting.

Dr. A.R. Sharma, Director, ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur welcomed the Chief Guests and participants during inaugural function and gave his welcome address highlighting the role of AICRP-WM in managing weeds and made a brief presentation of salient research achievements of ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur. Salient research achievements of AICRP-Weed Management during 2015-16 was presented by Dr. Shobha Sondhia, In-charge, AICRP-WM, ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur.

Progress and research achievements under this project in Central, North, East, West and South zones were presented by Nodal officers. Dr A.N. Tewari, Ex-Dean, College of Agriculture, CSAUAT, Kanpur and Dr. Madhuban Gopal, Former National Fellow & Principal Scientist and Consultant & Emeritus Professor were invited as resource person for this meeting. During the meeting, three books ‘Weed Science’ written by scientist of BAU, Ranchi, ‘Integrated Weed Management in Modern Agriculture’ in Gujratibu language, by AAU, Anand and ‘Technologies on Weed Management’ by ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur were released. AICRP-WM Best Centre Award was given to PAU, Ludhiana.
